Part of the Six String Weekend Explore harmonics and open string voicings with one of Chicago's hottest players. Open String Voicings often use only one or two fingers of the left hand to produce closely voiced harmony that would be very difficult to play otherwise. This technique is used by artists like Dave Matthews and Pat Metheny Harmonics can be used to create harp like effects. This technique was started by Chet Atkins and further developed by Lenny Breau. You can also play entire melodies using harmonics to produce a bell like quality. Between these two techniques, you can create harmonies both unusual and beautiful. Sunday , June 17, 4:30 - 5:50 PM with David Onderdonk 4544 N Lincoln Ave Even though these are free workshops we would appreciate if players signed up in advance.
