Each night will feature a dance class at 8:30 PM followed by two hours of dance music by dance bands and DJs. Celebrate the Punjabi harvest festival with a bhangra party! Bhangra performances by some of the Chicago area's top troupes and a blood-pumping class. Bhangra is a highly energetic folk dance from the Punjab region of India and Pakistan. It began as a dance for the harvest but has become so popular that it is performed year-round and world-wide. Groups participating: Hareepa! Chicago UChicago Bhangra IIT's Tech de Fateh UIC Bhangra Bhangra EPIC (Bhangra-E-Punjab Implementation Coordinators) Founded in 2009, Hareepa! Chicago is the Windy City's multicultural all-female, all-bhangra independent dance troupe. A group that aims to celebrate bhangra both on campus and in the community, onstage and off, UChicago Bhangra is the collegiate co-ed bhangra team of the University of Chicago. Illinois Institute of Technology's Tech de Fateh is a co-ed team from Bronzeville, dedicated to promoting bhangra in the Chicagoland area. Bhangra EPIC (Bhangra-e-Punjab Implementation Coordinators) is a bhangra team based out of Madison, WI. Our goal is to spread awareness of bhangra and Punjabi culture while adhering to our own take on our company motto: Do Good, Have Fun, Make Bhangra.
